The team at Acme were delighted to be awarded ‘Highly Commended’ in this year’s Hive Awards.

The Hive Awards recognise business excellence throughout Blackburn, Darwen & the surrounding areas. Acme have been based in Blackburn since the business was established in 1964 and we’re proud to play a large part in the local community.

This year, we have been recognised as ‘Highly Commended’ for the ‘Hive Business School Award’. This award recognises businesses who invest in both their own training and development and those of the upcoming generation.

We pride ourselves on our industry-renowned apprenticeship scheme that gives school-leavers the opportunity to become fully qualified engineers. We also welcome apprentices to all departments of the business and are particularly proud that some of our best apprentices have progressed to supervisory & managerial positions within the company.

We also do our best to invest in training and development for up-and-coming generations, having contributed to the ‘Primary Engineer’ project in previous years. Along with financial support, we have organised for teams of engineers to visit local schools to support teachers in practical engineering projects, which help inspire children into engineering careers.
